Are YOU ready to “set the night on fire?” Seventeen (yes — 17!) of the area’s finest will offer up their renditions of the classics as Skipper’s takes a trip back through time, turning into a psychedelic road house.
The fun begins with the Beaux Arts Collective, a reunion of people connected with the legendary Beaux Arts Gallery which was where Jim Morrison read his poetry during his tenure as a student at St. Petersburg Junior College. Singer-songwriters Paul Cascanet and Eric Scott, and poet Paul Watkins will each present an original piece about Jim Morrison and will also perform some of their original music/poetry, as Jim did at Beaux Arts. These performers are reuniting for this one time event–you may never get a chance to see them like this again.
Also on tap: the historic unveiling of door from Jim Morrison’s home. A door from the home of Jim Morrison’s grandparent’s in Clearwater, where Jim lived for 6 years of his life, has been beautifully painted by renowned artist Doug Wright. The door has been donated by Triangle Development Company to the Clearwater Public Library History Museum where it will become part of a permanent display honoring Jim Morrison, their most famous library card holder. Come meet the artist and get the first glance at this awesome tribute to a rock ‘n’ roll legend.
